2026年11月3日〜6日、スペイン・バレンシアのバレンシア・カトリック大学（Universidad Católica de Valencia, UCV）で開催された「13th International Conference on Monitoring and Management of Visitors in Recreational and Protected Areas（MMV13、保護地域・レクリエーション地域の来訪者モニタリングと管理の国際会議）」にて、環境地理学研究室のメンバーがコーディネートするセッション “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence for Efficient Monitoring of Recreational Facilities in Protected Areas”（保護地域のレクリエーション施設の効率的モニタリングに向けたデジタル変革とAI）を開催しました。
口頭セッション
本セッションは、王 婷、早川裕弌、渡辺悌二、愛甲哲也の4名がコーディネーターを務め、口頭発表を2コマ（Part I・Part II）に分けて実施しました。保護地域の利用施設（登山道・歩道など）の状態把握や管理に、デジタル技術やAIをどう活用できるかが主題です。

データ取得の効率化、市民参加型調査の信頼性、AI活用の課題など、分野や国の異なる参加者から活発な意見交換が行われました。
会場とポスターセッション
会場はバレンシア旧市街にあるUCVのキャンパスで、複数の建物に分かれて、いくつかのセッションが並行で行われました。ポスターは中庭に設置された電子タッチ端末で展示され、コアタイムには発表者が端末の前に立って説明していました。
半日巡検：アルブフェラのラグーンと海岸
5日午前の発表終了後は、3台の大型バスで L’Albufera Natural Park（アルブフェラ自然公園）へ移動し、ピクニック形式の昼食の後、テーマ別の小巡検がありました。この日の午前には、Dr. Carles Sanchís Ibor による基調講演 “Mired in Conflict: Territorial Governance in l’Albufera Natural Park” もあり、現地でその背景を実際に見ることができました。海辺のラグーンと周辺の海岸を歩き、保護地域としての保全と利用の現場を確認しました。
フェアウェル・ディナー
巡検の後、そのままバスで移動し、Farewell Dinnerが旧市街の歴史的な建物（Palau de l’Exposició）で開かれました。
おわりに
さまざまな国からの参加者で溢れたMMV。日本からも多く参加していました。世界各国の取り組みを一堂に会して議論し、また各々の研究、実践を振り返る良い機会であったと思います。
